Why ultra-smooth matters

On a glass-smooth surface, a fineliner deposits a clean, hard-edged line with no fiber drag — the look is precise and almost printed. It’s the opposite end of the spectrum from a toothy paper like Fabriano Accademia: where that adds warmth and texture, Hahnemühle Bristol delivers clinical crispness. Choose based on the mood you want.

Heavy, flat, archival

At 250 g/m², this stock lies dead flat on the bed, resists cockling under dense ink, and frames without buckling. It’s acid-free and archival, so a finished plot will hold up for decades — important if you’re selling or framing your work.

Pen pairing

Pair it with Pigma Microns or technical pens for the cleanest results. Avoid gel pens here — the surface is so smooth that gel ink can bead rather than absorb. For pigment fineliners, though, this is about as good as plotter paper gets.
