Tips for plotting with gel pens

Gel pens need a slightly slower travel speed than fineliners — the gel takes a moment to flow to the tip, and a fast acceleration can cause a skip at the start of a stroke. Most plotter software lets you set a maximum speed; drop it by 20–30% compared to your fineliner settings and the Moonlight performs reliably.

Keep the pen vertical in the clamp and lower the travel height just enough so the pen lifts cleanly — gel tips are slightly tacky and can drag at high lift heights.
